Understanding ADHD

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects both children and adults. It’s characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity that can interfere with daily functioning, relationships, academic performance, and work.

ADHD is not a lack of intelligence or willpower. It’s a difference in how the brain processes information, regulates attention, and manages behavior. Many individuals with ADHD are creative, energetic, and highly perceptive—but without the right support, they may struggle with organization, follow-through, time management, and emotional regulation.

Common Symptoms of ADHD

  • Difficulty sustaining attention or staying on task

  • Frequently losing items or forgetting appointments

  • Restlessness or feeling “on the go”

  • Impulsive decision-making or interrupting others

  • Trouble organizing tasks or completing projects

  • Emotional sensitivity and frequent mood shifts
