Understanding Panic Disorders

Panic Disorder is a type of anxiety disorder characterized by recurrent and unexpected panic attacks. A panic attack is a sudden and intense period of fear or discomfort that reaches its peak within minutes.

These attacks are often accompanied by overwhelming physical and emotional symptoms, which can be so intense that individuals may feel like they are losing control, having a heart attack, or even dying.

Panic Disorder occurs when a person experiences frequent, unexpected panic attacks and develops a persistent fear of having future attacks, which can lead to significant changes in behavior and daily life.

It’s important to understand that Panic Disorder is a medical condition, not a sign of weakness. While it can be debilitating, effective treatment options are available, including therapy, which can help individuals regain control over their lives and manage their symptoms.
